The routine maintenance and inspection services that we provide include:
Long-term Storage & Return to Service Functions
PHI can prepare helicopters for long-term storage, anticipating and preventing any potential damage that could arise from being in storage for an extended period of time. We handle all of the regular tasks involved with initial storage along with the OEM required periodic tasks needed to maintain the stored helicopter (inspections and testing).
When it is time to return a helicopter to service, our teams will remove storage-related protective measures and perform a thorough check on all systems. With safety as our top priority, we will also perform all necessary maintenance to ensure that your helicopter is airworthy in every way.
Hourly & Calendar Inspections
Outside of daily visual inspections, regular inspections done on an hourly and calendar basis are an essential part of proper helicopter maintenance. However, not all operators have the time or the resources to complete the necessary work per OEM and FAA guidelines, especially when it comes time for more extensive maintenance work.
As a full-service MRO, PHI can perform the necessary inspections in accordance with all guidelines as well as the resulting work to keep your helicopter airworthy. Our teams will do a thorough check, paying special attention to components reaching their calendar life or hourly limit. When the time come, PHI can also help with component replacement or overhaul.
Conditional Inspections (such as lightning-strike inspections)
Occasionally, something might happen to a helicopter that has the potential to affect its airworthiness, requiring a special inspection to check for damage. These conditional inspections must follow detail procedures outlined in the OEM’s maintenance manual, but at times that alone isn’t enough.
Our maintenance technicians at PHI have decades of experience performing conditional inspections and know how to look beyond OEM guidelines when they don’t adequately address your situation. From hard landings to lightning strikes, PHI is here to help.
Airworthiness Directives
When the FAA releases an airworthiness directive (AD), it can stop operators from flying until they remedy the unsafe condition to return their helicopter to airworthiness. Some ADs require a one-time inspection or modification, but others might involve more periodic inspections and part replacements.
Whether it’s one time or on a regular basis, PHI is a cost-effective solution to keeping your helicopter compliant with ADs. Our teams can perform the necessary inspections and repairs or replacements on all of the helicopter types that we support. AD compliance is also something that we check for as part of our hourly and calendar inspection services.
Safety Bulletins
Occasionally, a safety bulletin will be issued covering information and guidance that, while it doesn’t meet the criteria for an Airworthiness Directive (AD), it is recommended for operators to follow. They generally cover optional procedures and methods for preventing potential complications.
PHI keeps aware of safety bulletins along with any ADs for all of our supported helicopter types. Should you need or want any work recommended by a safety bulletin, our teams can support you in keeping your helicopter flying safely.
OEM Routine Requirements (such as component replacements)
Every OEM has different guidelines specifying requirements and recommendations for the maintenance and inspection of their aircraft. These regulations apply to the helicopter as well as for individual components, following calendar and hourly inspection and replacement specifications.
As part of our hourly and calendar inspections, PHI adheres to all OEM guidelines to ensure that your helicopter stays airworthy and safe. Our maintenance technicians are deeply familiar with the requirements set out by each OEM and will find the best solution when maintenance or replacement is needed to meet your needs.
Return to Service
Following maintenance, inspections, or storage a helicopter must have all work logged and undergo a check approving its airworthiness before it can return to service. PHI has procedures in place that facilitate the return to service process for a faster approval.
When returning a helicopter to service, safety is paramount to PHI. We maintain a detailed record of the work done in accordance with FAA regulations and perform all necessary checks to confirm that your helicopter is airworthy.
